Once the alcohol content gets to high the drink starts to taste more like wine than beer.

Actually, Utopias is described as tasting like a brandy or congac.

Go to Port of Call and get yourself a Blithering Idiot (I forget who brews that one, go figure!) It's about 16%, and tastes pretty good for a barley wine type of brew.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Easton, PA.
I've never tried the Sam Adams Utopias brew. The strongest beer I have downed was at Oktoberfest in Munich. Their brews were like 12 - 13%. Korean national beer, you never knew what you were getting. But you sure could taste the difference, from bottle to bottle!
I was wondering if the Ruddy Duck had an alcohol limit in their brews?

Just use champagne yeast in your home brewing with a little more sugar. It can go to 18%. Belgian Trappist Ale has high sugar content and would work.
