A female civilian police officer is being hailed as a hero in the aftermath of a gunman's rampage at Fort Hood — an outbreak of violence that the officer is credited with ending by shooting the alleged gunman four times despite being shot herself.

Who knows how many more he would have killed without her intervention. Kudo's to her. First responder training for active shooters has become the norm for most departments, it's sad to see that it had to be used, but glad she possessed the skills to get the job done.
