Ken, this article is the best explanation I've read for why the Israelis and Palestinians remain at war. I was surprised to read that the number of Israeli settlers on the West Bank is only 7,000. But these settlers have most of the land. Seems like Israeli officials have been reading histories of America's Old West.
Israel seems determined to take possession of the West Bank in fact as well as in name. So it tries to make the lives of ordinary Palestinians as difficult as possible. Does this excuse the monsters who carry out suicide bombings? Hell, no! Does it excuse Israel either? Again, hell, no!
