Is there a website where I can find the current water temperature of local waters (Potomac River, Patuxent River, etc.)? TIA

I would say that today's water temperature report need only say, "lower than ambient."

Yes, there are several options. For a quick Solomons area (end of CBL pier) water check, use station "SLIM2" at the NOAA National Data Buoy Center website. This station used to be fully operational, but right now it only does water temp. Irene may have had a handin this, I recall the weather instruments going off line abotu that time. Here is a link directly to the Solomons info - NDBC - Station SLIM2 Here is the home page. National Data Buoy Center Another local one is off Cove Point..(station ID = COVM2). It has all the other data, except water temp..I think it is located on the LPG dock, but I haven't confirmed that with the provided GPS data. There are several other floating ones in the area..there is a nice little flash or javascript map that helps you find the others.

Each buoy has its own RSS feed as well so you can keep up with updates using your mobile device. I believe there is also an APP for iOS.
