The question the article asks is...

What do you think? Should Delegate Dwyer resign?

You answered it and said

No, I don't believe he should, UNLESS that is part and parcel of the punishment for everyone else convicted of like crimes.

And I feel that this is a bit different in the fact that he is elected. I'm actually surprised an incident, such as this, wouldn't be a reason to fire him considering his position. I'm torn on his letter, part of it is excuses and part of it is taking responsibility. I think I might have felt better about it if he said "look, I was out on the water, drinking, one thing lead to another and I had too much." But here he is admitting that he handled problems by reaching for the bottle, meaning there were other times he was that drunk and didn't get caught. He is admitting he has a drinking problem - not just the guy who had too much to drink.

Make sense??
Yes, but alcoholism is now considered a disease, what other diseases should we have people resign over? (not saying it's right, but it IS now considered a disease/affliction that is treatable).

And again, he's an elected official, the rules should apply to him equally to a "normal" person.. He shouldn't be treated any better or worse.

I DOUBT very much that his job requires to hold a secuirty clearance of any kind, so I doubt anything dealing with a DUI would be grounds for dismissal.

You would think a job that has him voting on our behalf would but then again, our president wouldn't pass the employee investigation portion for my job due to his questionable contacts.

My piss ant pay nothing shiat job.

And I think you hit the nail on the head. After the accident, many of us who saw him on the news saw this "oh, I'm so sorry" guy, and now he is playing the "I have a disease" card. I guess that is what has my panties in a bunch over his statement. I doubt he would have gotten elected had his disease been known before the election.
