I just finished reading QUEEN by ALex Haley.

Thanks soo much to MyMo for giving me this book to read.. I cried through at least ten chapters!!


Anyone else read this?? I think it should be required reading in highschool.

I read it. Excellent book! Easter and Queen were quite the women.

And yeah, I also cried throughout the book.

I thought this book would be great discussion because of Andrew Jackson.

Sadly it does not surprise me that he was elected president. He was a vicious scoundrel in that book. It was like he was the hand that wiped the indian tribes from the face of the nation

I wonder how much of that was embellished and how much of it was real??

Quite a few historical accounts have Jackson as the ultimate indian hater.

The blurb at the end of the book knocked me out of my chair. I thought the book was mostly fictional until that moment and I cried even more at the truth of it.

Alex Haley might have the most complete family history of anyone I've ever seen,coming from slavery.
