Spaying scheduled

OK, so kitty is scheduled to be spayed next Wednesday at Well Pet. I'm supposed to just drop her off early in the morning and pick her up after 3. Yes, I'm a big baby- reassure me that this is a routine thing and they are reliable. I think I'm just nervous because the last time I dropped off a cat at a vet (many years ago), it had to be euthanized. Guess I'm still a bit anxious!

I had my puppy spayed there back in November. I was a bit worried. Dropped her off, picked her up at 3. She was still a little groggy but awake enough to get excited when she saw me. Got her home and could not keep her still, she ran all over the house, chased the cats and played like nothing at all happened earlier in the day. Don't sweat it, kitty will be just fine.

Almost every one of my animals have been spayed or neutered at Well Pet. They are good. The only thing is if your kitty gets surgery in the early a.m., he/ she will not be as drousy. If they get done later in the day, they seem really drunk for quite awhile. I have had to leave one or two in a cage overnight because they were still too groggy and would only harm them selves. when I get them home, I put the cage on the floor and open the door and see how far they get before they fall down. Then I shove them back inside for the appropriate time.

I'll try that technique when she gets home. I'm more concerned with my 3 year old trying to pick her up. Maybe I'll just confine her to a room until the next day.

That's what I did with my cat....I have a little one running around as well and didn't want them to get near the cat. I actually was able to keep her in her carrier overnight.....I believe she was spayed there later on in the afternoon. She was so "drunk" and out of it when I picked her up. Kinda funny actually.

My cat was just fine. She's not very social with strangers, and she must have had an early procedure. When I picked her up she was giving them he!!. The lady at the front desk asked if she was a house cat that was used to living inside...with people. She was so mad she tried to bite the techs right through her cage door. But she came home and was just fine.

That would be your best bet. Only give water at first. They may not need food till next day. My shepherd was so sick from anatesia (sp) that every time she took a drink of water she'd Poor thing, I felt so bad for her. BUt on the good side, all my other animals did just fine except for the drunk thing. Just keep quiet till the next day.

I suspect if somebody cut my tubes without my consent, I'd be a little p.o'd too. I've got a super sweet and loving kitty. She LOVES strangers and enjoys bath water...go figure.

If they barf, take all food and water away. If they can keep down food, only give small amount.
