Cat question?

Our family has grown by one as we welcome the addition of Harley our new kitten last week. She is a doll.

She is a mixed breed cat. Mother was a short hair tortiose shell and dad must have been a very fluffy and long haired grey, white with possible tabby due to the dark tabby like stripes I see on her.

My question is how is it best to handle the little presents that are stuck to her backside after using the litter pan?

I have had this twice so far. The first time I pulled them off iwth a tissue as there were only one or two.

Mind you the litter pan is cleaned daily, but today she has several poopy mats on her backside. I tried to pull them off as I did before and she was not liking that.

So I ended up using the kitty brush and her was not happy. Sould I cut the backside fur or just continue to brush it?

Clip her backside. Get her used to it now while she's young.

My mom had a long-haired kitty that would get stuff stuck to her. If you trim her backside, it might look silly. Good luck w/that!

I clip Allie and you really can't tell. I don't cut really short, just a little shorter. Funny..she still fusses a bit when I clip her but if I put something shiny in the bathroom sink, she'll fool with that and forget I'm clipping her.

I still brush her almost daily too. She has very long, very silky hair.

Thanks for the replies. She is a really little fluff ball right now and I just don't want to hurt her. I think the tissue and the brush must have pulled at her and she cried.

Would scissors be the best route or clippers?

I use scissors. It's really very easy..no need for clippers.

Awesome. Please Pm me with your hours as I will need to arrange to leave early from work one day. She is such a doll though. She's mostly a grey black longhair (as I said I can see tabby like stripes in the dark fur on the top of her head)

All of her little paws are white as well as the tip of her tail. She also has a little white spot below her mouth a smidge off center, and of course a few larger white patches on her underbelly.

She is my son's kitty and she is such a little love.

I have a cell pic I will try and post.
