She went out this morning for almost 2 hours and has been a pleasure since she came back inside. My old girl walked by, looked behind her seeing this cat sitting in the living room and continued on her way without being chased. My old cat is a feral rescue and is super strange anyway. The stress of being picked on by the younger one was showing, hair falling out and she was dropping weight. This younger kitty has way too much energy to be stuffed in my house all the time for sure.

And....

Call me mean but I really don't care one iota about squirrels or birds - birds can fly and squirrels are fast so if the cat gets either, that is their fault. Seems to me squirrels and birds are better equipped for survival than my cats.

I'm training my cats to kill grouchy neighbor people. That Westbury stabbing? Practicing outside their own 'hood.

My cats go out. We work for them, opening and closing doors all day.

I'm glad I posted this... because this thread will make me the winner of an argument. My husband swore I started letting our kitty out last year and that was the reason for the flea problem we had last year. It wasn't the reason... his dog brought them in. But last year, this kitty was infested with fleas and it was rather pitiful that our indoor kitty (that we treated with Frontline) had to get constant flea baths when she never stepped 1 paw outside. My oldest cat had no fleas on her and her outdoor outings are fewer and fewer now that she is getting older. The Frontline he was using on his dog wasn't preventing the fleas last year so we have switched to K9 Advantage. I've been telling him that Frontline hasn't been working for many and that it wasn't because of our newest kitty - nor was she even going outside last year.

A little update on our youngest kitty. She loves going outside and never wants to come inside now unless she is hungry or at night. During the day, she can often be found relaxing/sleeping in a chair or playing in our gardens.... or simply stalking me when I'm outside. Our oldest kitty is much happier the baby isn't inside all day and has gained the weight she lost back, coat looks better and she can tolerate the baby now when she is around - unlike before when they would just fight all the time.
