| Looking for a new laptop If anybody's selling one. $200-$300, Doesn't need an OS. It doesn't need to be top of the line, just something I can take to the racetrack with me each week. I perfer it to be a DELL or Gateway. I just need wireless internet and something that can multitask (Word, Internet), and decent battery life. Like I said, it just needs to be something that I can take and hook up at the racetrack each week and will do what I need it to do. |

![]() I've been looking on craigslist and found some solid deals. My stepdad's actually buying mine for his business, he bought two others already but wants to go ahead and get mine since it's got his GPS software on it. I am ujust going to take what he gives me and buy something comparable. Oh yeah, I DON'T want Vista. | |

| I haven't had much experience with Leveno, but lots with the IBM laptops. Not sure if the Leveno is the same inside, never looked into it. The IBMs were rugged and fast, very few failures. And up until a few weeks ago, I thought HP was OK too. In the past few weeks I have seen more software conflicts and hardware failures on the HPs, not to mention all the woes the forum members have talked about. To top it off, I had to send a customer's HP back for warranty repair. It's been out 3 weeks so far...... Not a great way to impress a large corporation.

| Those are pretty cool laptops. I'm not sure though, just a little too small for me. I'm going to be doing a lot of typing - statistics and stuff, and may need the space to transfer audio files and interviews from my DELL bluetooth and WiFi capable Windows Mobile PDA w/ audio recording. I've thought about buying another tablet, but I'm not sure if the Gateway's are as durable as my hp tablet. Since my hp tablet's a work computer, I don't feel too comfortable using that at the racetrack. I just need my own laptop computer. I had a really nice DELL that I let my brother use, but his landlord basically stole it. I went to get it back and she had already sold it on eBay. |
