Sirius and theft?

Is there a real risk of having a Sirius radio stolen? It seems pointless since it could only be used until I called Sirius and had it turned off. Do they have any value I'm not thinking of? Wouldn't a thief be incredibly stupid to risk jail time so he could use it for a couple of hours?

My car stays unlocked all the time and my sirius unit proudly displayed on the windshield
Neighborhood crackheads even stole all the change outta the ashtray and left the sirius...so, I say it is not a big risk

You are a 100% correct but when the broke in to my truck (begining of Feb) the stole mine and everything that went with it, as if they thought they would be able to use it.

I called had it disconnected and put on what XM calls a "hitlist"

if it is stolin, and you have a lifetime subscription, it will cost 75 bucks to change it to a new unit, u can only do that 3 times.

Hmm...that's odd. They must not know how to hook it up.

Yes there is value. Even though you have to have a subscription, those things could be sold on the black market for a little bit. I would think someone would steal an HD radio before stealing a Sirius reciever though.

I leave my DELL PDA/MP3 in my car all the time and nobody's ever messed with it.

I read that existing hardware will continue to work. I think it was siriusmerger.com

The pricing plan looks good to me. You'll be able to choose as few as 50 channels for $6.99 month, and add more for more $$$.
