I've always built my own rigs but technology has moved really fast the last three years. Problem in this case was the power supply. The BIOS has updated several times and it is a bear to update until the OS is installed. I got this board because you can tweak the settings better than most. The only thing I don't like is the lack of SLI support. But as I really don't have the funds for two expensive video cards, it was something I could live with.
