Google is famous for minimalism and speed.... Nothing really impresses me (been using Firefox and Safari)...but, being able to have one box to enter URLs or search terms does speed things up...saves a few tabs to get to the right box--or back if I overshoot.

So far - it is OK. I really like FireFox (especially being able to control when I see Flash, etc.). The court is still out on Chrome.

Review: Google's Chrome needs more polish - CNN.com

So which one comes out smelling like roses? The beta of Internet Explorer 8, released just last week.

When playing a YouTube video, Firefox 3 took up 95 percent of the CPU time on a three-year old laptop running Windows XP.

Chrome came in at 60 percent -- still too much. Especially since Google owns YouTube! You'd think it could make its browser work well with that site in particular.

Internet Explorer barely broke a sweat, taking up just a few percent.

Makes me wonder if Microsoft isn't doing something to purposely slow down competing products on MS OSs.

Interesting concept. However, I'm sure competitors would have figured that out by now during their own testing and filed anti-trust suits.

The other part of that is that portions of the MS OS are still proprietary, and "outsiders" just can't take best advantage of the code.

Sun did and won. Remember? But the same Java code runs 43 times slower on XP than Linux. That is significant.

Microsoft hasn't had a good OS since DOS 3.3.

I've been using it since Launch, and it puts Firefox to shame. (atleast to me)

I recommend visiting Google Chrome - Index and view what they have to offer as far as plugins and all that other stuff.
