Troubleshooting PSU

Alright, last night my computer turned on then off a few times before I finally DC'ed the power.

I disassembled my box and replaced the PSU with another one. Everything worked fine. I took my old PSU and connected it to an outlet to see if it would turn on. Nothing happened. The power switch was very loose, i.e. there was no "click" between the on and off positions.

So I took off the PSU casing and cut the wires between the switch and fused them together. It -should- be permanently stuck "on" now, but it still won't turn on when connected to an outlet.

Is there any more troubleshooting I can do with this now? I don't have much experience with PSU troubleshooting.

If it's a recent power supply (last 3-4 years) it requires that it be connected to the motherboard. The MB gives it the command to turn on/off.

Aye, I connected a wire between the cables requiring that, which should fix that problem.

Haha!

Well, the hardware manager at work lent me a PSU from one of the failed computers... but it didn't fit into my PSU bay. So now I have the PSU duct taped to the top of my tower with the side window opened up.

Here's to hopin my apartment doesn't flood tonite!
