Is a Wii remote alone better than a numchuck and a controller?

They arent comparable..the nunchuck is required for certain games and activities...such as the boxing portion of WiiSports.

That depends.... some games are better with the numchuck or you have to have them to play.

i.e. Wii Sports, most of the games just use the regular controller but if you want to box, you have to use the numchuck.

Sorry to ask but the kids are getting a Wii Sports for Xmas. It comes with one remote. No controller or numchuck. I need another controller or remote or numchuck and remote.
When I worked at Monk's they had two remotes only. The price of a controller and a numchuck is close to just a remote, so I was looking for advice.TIA.

Personally I see no need for the controller unless you like that classic controller "feel"

I would buy the additional Wiimote plus 2 nunchucks. The Wii Sports package only has 1 WiiMote and no nunchuck. This way you are set up for 2 players.

Just my opinion though.

Thanks so much. I am not a gamer myself. I just want to have what the munckins need to play.

And don't forget that the Wii is backwards compatible with Gamecube. You can find a ton of cheap fun games for the Gamecube to add to your collection of games.

Just be sure to pick up the Gamecube controllers. You can get an offbrand one at Gamestop for $11.99.

Well, I bought a "classic controller" and did dot realize that you can only hook it up to a Wii remote and not the actual unit itself. So tomorrow I will be getting another Wii remote, dual charger station and extra numchuck as the system comes with one remote and one numchuck.

The good news is that I scored a 158 out of a possible 300 on the bowling game.
