| You can have rechargeable AA and AAA batteries. That is what I have in mine and it lasts fine, cheap to replace, and easy to charge.

| My cell phone is 2 years old and had video capability. Check to see if yours does and use that instead of buying another camera. The quality of the video may not be as good, but take into account what quality you'll get out of a $100 digital video camera versus a $600 model. BIG difference! |

| I just got a flip video camera at school. I've been learning how to work it over the holiday and so far am impressed. Mine can record for 60 minutes but it also comes in a version that will record for 30 (cheaper). It is super easy to use and charges via the computer. I am still learning about it but based on what little I know so far, I'm thinking of buying one for personal use very soon. It's no bigger than an ipod and extremely convenient. Shop around for the best price -- you should be able to get a good deal on one now. Flip Video Ultra (60 minutes, black) Digital Camcorder reviews - CNET Reviews |

| Reading this thread, I had no idea video cameras were so cheap now. I might have to purchase one just to record the dog acting stupid. ![]()

| I had heard that AA and AAA batteries only lasted like 1-2 hrs in most digital camcorders. I know in my digital camera that uses AA batteries if i use the video on it the batteries are done in about 10 minutes. Anyone else have a camcorder that runs on AA or AAA batteries that lasts more than an hour? If they do last I will def get one they seem to be cheaper than the rechargable batt. ones. |

The Flip video Mino that I have has a sealed rechargable battery. It recharges by connecting it to a computer via a USB port - takes about 3 hours to fully recharge. There is also an optional power cord that you can get that will recharge it in about 2 hours (I don't have that yet). Mine has a 2 gig memory that will hold 60 minutes of video which can then be uploaded to the computer, Youtube or whatever. As I said before, I got it through the school and I will be purchasing my own shortly for personal use. I've done some pricing of them & found it online at Walmart for about $139 -- a little more than you wanted to spend but if you add in the cost of batteries for the future it's probably an even deal. Like I said before, I'm pretty impressed with what it does for the size & convenience of it. | |
