HP Printer

I put the Deskjet D1430 on my daughters Vista desktop.
she was trying to print a powerpoint page that she had created for school.
It wouldnt print.
print spooler was stopped and everytime I tried to restart it, it came up with a message that I couldnt start it.

so I moved the printer to my computer, same as hers.

printed out from word and a picture, everything working fine.
then I put her project into my puter, opened up the Power Point, went to print,, nothing.
Tried to open up the printer dialog, but there was no printer showing, clicked on the install printer button, got the message that the spooler was stopped.

once again I go into services,,couldnt restart it. wouldnt let me.

restarted the system, spooler was running as it should be, Word docs, no problem.
so I went into the printer software and told it to print directly to the printer, no spooling.
Opened up power Point, went to print her project, and power point crashed.
did this a few times.

Finally ended up just using the power point viewer and printed from there. No problem.

so, is the problem in the printer drivers (I did reinstall them last night) or is there a problem in the Power Point?

anyone else heard about any compatibility issues with HP printers and some Microsoft products?

Sounds similar to issues I have with my new HP printer. I bought this one and it hung up..kept giving me error messages, would not load paper. I called tech support and after an hour of trying to help me, the tech sent me a new one and told me to return the old one. Now that I have the new one, it is working fine for the most part but will not print from some sites.

I like HP printer hardware, but despise their software. I will not buy another HP product just because of their horrible software, especially printer software. It falls into the "bloatware" category.

That's weird, I have an HP Photosmart C5580 and have had no problems with printing. It even uses bluetooth to connect to the computer. Everything runs perfect.

this is the first HP I have ever had problems with.
I suspect it may be reserved for only this model.

Problem is not with printer..it is with VISTA!!! ;jameo:

Go to HP and download updated drivers for Vista...and it MIGHT work then.

Vista sucks and Microsoct knows it.

so, every other printer works with the vista, but the one set of HP drivers causes office to crash,, so instead of it being the problem of HP its Vista?

cant say it really makes too much sense. The drivers have to be written to be compatible, I would agree with you if it was all printers, or most printers, but not one printer.

Sorry, I miss understood your original post.
I thought you said HP would not work on daughtersdesktop which has VISTA as it OS....but would work on your PC ( no OS noted).
So I understood it to be that the printer failed to work on VISTA...
What is you OS?
