Losing Internet in July?

Have any of you professionals out there heard anything about this? Is it for real? And, why can't the govt. just release a list of the IP addys affected?

Hundreds of thousands may lose Internet in July - Yahoo! News

Wow! What a surprise. I'm glad I stopped using Microsoft products on most of my machines here at the house. Nope, I've heard nothing via the Navy, didn't even know about this.

because a lot of broadband users are behind a 'router' with multiple computers ..... and are ignorant of how computers communicate

personally I think this is VERY Scary behavior by the FEDS ......... DNS Changer infected computers today

some unpopular politcal group tomorrow - oh wait, can we kick the OWS'ers off line

I think there should a Net Access License ....... you do not have one, you get stuck in a sandbox with AOL Users ..........

Yeah, I don't think I am going to willingly go to a FBI controlled site, click on "scan my computer" and give them access forevermore.

Need to track him down, and burn down all properties he owns for causing this mess. Perhaps his enviro-whacko buds will help.

Am currently looking at the website - DCWG | DNS Changer Working Group - cited in this article to determine if ones computer is infected.

How do I know if this site is bogus or not???????

The malware in question is legit and there are all kinds of ways to find out if you have it. The FBI just wants you to use their "partner" to find out if you have it.

I thought the same thing...

It's safe, just gives you a link to click on to verify your DNS server is not redirecting you to the wrong site.

However, after you run the test, it puts up a message that basically says 'ok, it was successful, but this is no guarantee that you still don't have that bug'.

Thanx for nuttin'.
