| New computer. Desk or Lap top> I need a new computer. Besides the obvious advantage of the laptop being portable are there other advantages/disadvatages to either? I'm not likely to need to have portablility but I guess it's nice to have. |

| you can get a bigger HD w/ a desktop, more ram etc; larger screen. But as you said a laptop you can take w/ you? I personally have 2 dewsktops, and three laptops and an IPAD. Don't really have any problems; take IPAD and one small laptop on road w/ me. GURPS likes this. |

| A desk top is much more easy to upgrade than a laptop. GURPS likes this.

| I might be needing a new laptop soon as well. All I do is surf the web, email, and occasional letters. I want the cheapest one I can get that is good and will do all that. Currently have a Compaq Presario C700. Has been a good machine. Is about 8 years old and getting really slow.

| something in the 500 - 750 range from any of the major manufactures should be ok not the bottom basement model, and not high end Black Friday is coming
