| Exede or Hughesnet We've been using 4G for our home internet network, but lately we've been hit with HUGE overage charges (on a 12GB plan) and are having serious connectivity issues lately. Thinking of switching to Satellite (that USED to be barely better than dial-up) but wondering if anyone uses the Gen4 (Hughesnet) or Exede services and if you are happy with them and what kind of speeds you get. There's a lot to love about living in the country, lack of technical services isn't one of them.

Exede and Gen4 both have free download late at night.. exede is 12 am to 5am but there is meters (extra 15 gig a month) gen 4 I think is 10PM to 8am unmetered. Gen 4 SEEMS to be the better deal, but the reviews online are terrible.

The only difference is the router has better wireless performance and allows 250 wireless users to connect. Have total coverage in the house, with 9 or ten wireless devices that are consistently linked including Airplay...

| My coworker has Exede and likes it. The only issue is the caps. I have heard nothing but bad things about Hughes Gen4. Obviously things will vary person to person, but exede has been operating at the new Gen4 speeds longer so I'd think they have more of the kinks worked out. Also I think you have some bad information about the cap-free time. Hughes is 2am-7am. Quote:
