| OK, another internet service to try.. Home Fusion! I asked about Exede, and HughesNet GEN4, but now after talking to the Verizon store rep, they have what's called Home Fusion. They install an antenna on your house for better 4G and more stable 4G connection, run to a wireless router in the house, and their data plan is either 20 or 60 gig (I think that's right). Price is comparable, or a little cheaper for Verizon with that amount of data, installation is free, and the latency is all but gone. (Satellite ping is about 800-900 ms, whereas Verizon is about 50 - 60 ms). Speeds are comparable.. Exede and GEN4 both advertise 12- 15 MPS up and 1 or 3 down.. Home Fusion is real close to the same.. I think I average about 12 MPS up and 5 or better down now. I need some opinions.. and of course smart ass (NOT dumb ass) replies are always welcome! I need a new home internet service.. what I have is NOT working.. and VERY $$$$.. Or i should say it works, just doesn't work out for my wallet! Everything I've bought for the home entertainment is now all "smart" and all wirelessly connected.. Not sure which one is the cuprit, but one or more of them is eating into my monthly data without downloading any songs or movies..

| I just did a Google search on 'Verizon HomeFusion' and got lots of info, pros and cons. Pricing I saw was different than yours. Sounds expensive, and if you go over your limit it's $10/Gb. Hardware costs $200, install is free. It's based on the 4lte wireless, so if you get GOOD Verizon coverage down there, it might be worth it. Oh, and BTW, it sound like nothing more than a cellular router with an external antenna.

| I think you have your "up" and "down" speeds mixed up. Up speeds are usually very much slower. Download speeds are what you are browsing and typically faster. Did you say what you have now and what you are paying??? Anytime you go wireless, you'll pay more. I have hughesnet out of necessity. I would love just plain ol' cable if it was available.

| home Fusion Verizon is offering the home fusion device ($199) for free and free install with the 2 year contract. Sales person tried to get me to take the 20g plan however if you start with the 10g they are giving 5g extra for two months. It is supposed to be installed within a week. Then they give you 14 days to return with a restocking fee. I hope this will provide better internet and I don't need to return it. I hate my home internet speed. I'm not a techie but I think it's better than satellite and the mifi since it has the external antenna. It can connect 20 devices. There is an optional $6.95/month insurance plan - I'm not sure if that is the best way to get them to service the device if it fails. |
