MS Word 2003 checks spelling and grammar... It is a feature that must be enabled through Tools ----> Options.....

MS Word (Office Professional 2003). You also need a similar tool for titling threads. "Writting...." - Sheesh!

No, the features are the same, just the programs that come bundled are different.

I think Office Basic has Word, Excel and Outlook...

Pro Has Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Access, Visio and other crap too...

If you don't have MS Word you can download Open Office, which has a good word processing system. http://www.openoffice.org

Although I'd be surprised if you didn't have MSWord, it comes with just about every computer you buy.

You might check on microsoft's website for an essay template, it'll set up some formatting and layouts:

I hated Word when it first came out. Now even idiots can look somewhat literate. Of course the true hardcore stupid never caught on, and still there were documents that looked like they were written by 8 year olds. Didn't take my youngest boy long to find out about these tools. He had to use a laptop in school, and after about a week his spelling test scores went through the roof. The teacher wasn't smart enough to figure out what happened, and I wasn't going to sell out my own.

I have the openoffice program....as for MSWord preinstalled....my computer came preinstalled with wordperfect instead.

Does openoffice also have grammar check? I haven't really explored the program in depth yet.

I purchased reference point template for my papers that needed APA. it helps with spelling, but also gives the template for citing sources and documenting without having to hand type everything in seperatly.
