Holy crap! Mine was installed by Southern MD Oil and it was $8K, and I thought that was a bit steep.

What ton and what SEER? Mine's a 4 ton 15 SEER I believe. I should have asked about having a humidifier installed, but it totally slipped my mind.

Agree?

That is exactly the way it works, as long as your not stupid its really a big advantage.

I wanted to go with a higher SEER, but they said no can do with the size of the unit. I think we'd have had to go with two separate units. I do have the multi-speed oil furnace though. It seems to help a lot with evening out the temperature. Used to have super warm rooms and super cold rooms. Now it's all good.

My previous unit was circa 1978, was definitely time for an upgrade.

I just got the second contractors estimates in the mail and they were literally half of what the first one was.

A low of just $2800 for replacing the oil furnace only and a high of around $6000 for a hybrid system, not the highest end stuff (Armstrong vs Trane) but damn what a difference.
