Nissan Frontier - How do they hold up?

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about longevity and reputation of Nissan Frontier pickups? What is typical gas mileage? What is typical longetivity? Are owners typically satisfied? Do they require much maintenance? Which other small pickup model are they comparable to? yada yada yada? Thanks for the input.

Don't know much about the new Nissan trucks, but the older ones, 2 and 4 wheel drive,
were tough as nails.

I purchased a 2000 Nissan Frontier V-6 crew cab 4x4 new.
It has been driven every day. It has about 150,000 miles
on it. It averages about 20mpg. I did have to put a new transmission ($3000) in it about 3 years ago. Other than that it
has been trouble free. Just routine maintenance.

Don't know about the new ones but...
My 97 just turned 275,000 miles a few days ago. It's hands down the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I bought it after my 87 Nissan truck was stolen. It had close to 300,000 miles on it. When the time comes, I'll certainly buy another one but I'll still keep the 97 for dump runs and such. I average about 27 mpg with it.

I don't know much about the Frontier's but had an Xterra and with well over 170K miles, no problems at all. Some friend's of mine also have an Xterra and have never had problems with theirs.

I had a 92 and a 96. I tried to kill them, both were/are the toughest trucks Ive ever owned. The 92 is still going with over 250,000 miles, the 96 I recently sold. Would definetly buy another Nissan!

I had a 2004 Xterra, with the same engine that is in the Frontier and I'm told some experience the same problem with it, but I was getting all kind of warning codes off of it. 7 at a time and could not keep them clear. The knock sensor is a problem in those engines and is a PIA to get to although they say it doesn't do anything to the non-super charged engine.

All I know is that it started running like crap and I got rid of it.

I want to purchase an XTerra next, so your comments are encouraging...

... but that's not. More searching is certainly warranted.
