| State Income Tax I filed Maryland State income tax thru Turbotax over a month ago and I have not received my refund yet. I went to their website there's not much help either. Is there a local number I can call to check with regarding state income taxes? TIA! |

![]() FWIW, I mailed my kids taxes on 15 April and they just got their checks last week. They got their federal checks somewhere around last Tuesday and their State checks came in Saturday.

Since you filed late, your refund may be delayed due to penalties. You can email: taxhelp@comp.state.md.us

| I too sent my taxes in around the end of the first week in April and have not gotten them back. I checked on the website and utilized the tool for finding out the status and each and every time there was no status. It simply said that they hadn't been received. I called on two separate occasions, once at the beginning of May and again at the end of May to find out what the situation was and received the same story. Evidently about the beginning of April, the State of Maryland decided that they were going to put the State Income Tax Refunds on hold (i.e. not process them or log them in), until they had processed all of the ones from tax payers that owed the State of Maryland. The last time I called they said that they were just beginning to process some of the returns, but could not give me a time when mine would get done as no log-in process had been performed on any of them and therefore didn't know where it was. They did say that the electronic submissions were getting processed faster. |

| Quote: See below - This is cut directly from the link you posted. If you do not owe any Maryland taxes on your return, do not file Form 502E. Maryland Revenue Administration Division only accepts extension requests on Form 502E if there is a balance due on the return. Penalty and Interest Charges on Tax Owed: Interest will be assessed at a rate of 13% per year (1.08% per month) from April 15, 2008 until the date of payment. Interest accrues regardless of an approved extension request. An additional Late Payment Penalty can be assessed for up to 25% of the amount of tax you owe. There is a substantial Late Filing Penalty for not filing or late filing of your tax return. | |

If you do not owe, do not file an extension, and do not file a return on time, you can be assessed penalties.
