best bet is to ensure you have good insulation. my house was not old, but i added 10 inches of blow in insulation. the builder did a horrible job there and the original owner must not have checked it out before moving in. i also added radiant barrier to my attic and that helped a ton. i had that in TX so that is why i did it here. that was about $100 to do, insulation was under $300 and i havent had an elec bill over $180 yet this summer in my 2700 sq ft house.

Well i orded the Barrier and i plan on installing it this weekend. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Thats cool, I hope it helps. That and programable thermostats along should help your bill some and keep you cooler. My bill last month was my highest yet since I made all the chages. Still under $170 and Ive been keeping the bedroom at 73 at night. During the day the upstairs isn't cooled at all and the lower levels are kept at 81 until we get home then they goto between 77-79. With celing fans on low its plenty cold.

Well I got my barrier and installed it. It does help but i don't feel a real BIG difference. Maybe if i conpair bills after a year i could tell a diffecen in $$$ but not a major noticeable in temps. Over all after 3 days of this stuff id have to say happy with it.

Did you find a technician to fix the system?

By zoning do you mean getting another A/C unit, so there's dual zones?

Called Great Mills Heating and Cooling because of the recommendations in this post.

FWIW - I have no beef with Winters. In fact, they are the ones that did the initial install of my system when our house was built.

Two techs came out and serviced my system. Very professional. Took their time to answer my questions.

The techs said that Winters did an excellent job with all the duct work etc.

The maintenance cost was very affordable.

I will be using them to service my system from now on.
