The New American Dream

Did anyone see Susie Orman's 2012 Money Class last night on PBS?

I don't ususally watch her because she's just got more ideas than I have budget for.... but last night I saw a total change.... She was actually telling people that they have to "live in the truth" and then she described the new American Dream as living below our means!

Living within your means does not have to mean living below your means.

True story. I was once told by someone "I don't have enough money to live within my means."

I kid you not.

I recommend reading The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. He uses God and Grandma's way of handling money as his base.

You can find a copy of the book at the library. If you want to purchase one the cheapest I have found is at Dave Ramsey Homepage - daveramsey.com

And the best money book out there is called Proverbs and the best investing book otherwise is a story called . . . The Tortoise and the Hare.

Dave Ramsey and Susie Ormand are horrible sources. Ms Ormand's business is selling books and tv commercials... not helping you with your finances.

Dave Ramsey is just wholly incompetent.

The point is.... someone needs to tell us the truth....

We need to get ready to live below our means....

Look at the Additional Medicare Tax. Those of us who earn more than $125,000.00 Per year will be responsible for this additional tax effective January 1, 2013. While that doesn't affect me directly, it may affect my boss and that will affect me indirectly.

This link goes directly to IRS.gov website.

Everyone should be ready for more of these tax deductions from our pay.

This link is from Forbes. It's easy enough to read.

Here's a link from the Washington Post on the issues facing the increased Federal Income Tax withdrawals and the problems this indecision is causing small business payroll clerks....

I've already seen one notice from QuickBooks and more on in the pike.

I would suggest everyone should take a second look at the W-4 form they filled out to make sure they don't get caught in a financial bind....
