There are 5 pieces to the score (Free FICO Credit Score + Check Your Credit Report Online | myFICO) and none have anything to do with actually having money. In fact you could have $1M in the bank but never borrow money and have no score.

Pull one of your three reports every 4 months as a form of personal identity theft monitoring.

As for your friends I have found others always have good ideas as to what I should do with my money.
I pulled a credit report and I am pretty sure that is where I found out about taking a hit on my score? I may have used the term credit rating improperly?

I usually pull a report, as you said, every 4 months and it was one of those reports that alerted me t the fact that my score went down. It's still good but not as good as I thought it would be.

As far as friends, yes, you are right, they had great ideas of what to do with my money. I'm glad I didn't listen to them as they are filing bankruptcy now.

Renting works best for me.

I started another thread with a question over this form - eventually I posted an article. I think the form hasn't been completed because they just extended this from 2011 & are making it retro to include 2012. We have an energy credit as well. The way I see it, they owed me $11.00 before the credit so with the credit our refund is $311, I'll wait.

Vince, you can wait with us.

We're waiting. And the energy credits for new windows and insulation, etc., it's gone away.

Even if you have all your 1099's it is good to wait to make sure that they are final. Broker told me that it was big improvement that 1099's do not have to be printed and delivered until end of February. The tax filing deadline is too soon.

I thought employers or maybe their accountants could be fined $50 per document and up to $10,000 for the tax year by not having them to employees by the 31st?

Vince,

Read here....

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5695.pdf

I started a thread on this - not sure if you do your taxes or have somebody do them for you but you can always call the IRS for assistance.

2 page form and 4 pages explaining how to fill it out. Gotta love the government.
