It's like, dude! What are you seeing in the mirror???? I never understand that.
I'm not sure if you've been out in public lately, but, tragically, not ALL women are hard on themselves. At least not 'hard' in a level of commitment to appearance that I would recognize as more effort than my cat put out today.

As for the deeper meaning as regards men, it goes back to hunter/gatherer; if we don't have enough gumption to go out and spread our seed or hunt or gather, we die off. That is a biological, DNA level motivation to say "Hey baby, what's yer sign?" no matter how hideous we actually are. Survival of the "I am it" ist.

MK and I were in Ross a couple weekends ago and there was a girl in her early 20s with a belly shirt on and a whole lot of belly hanging out of it. The little girl in line behind her commented on it.

I still attest that one both sides of the fence it's more a matter of "fake it till you make it" than real self esteem.

I dunno - some of them are faking pretty heavy. Self confidence is always attractive, but me-me-me coming from a lamer guy is what you enjoy moments of hilarity about with your girlfriends later.

Usually women who are stuck on themselves have something to be stuck about - they're cute or have a good body or whatever. But guys will be stuck on themselves and it's like....????

But these same guys are the ones that will usually lay pipe in whatever will let them. Not exactly the model of self esteem.

I know some women who don't have much to be pompous about yet they walk around and dress like they just stepped out of a magazine. I have a pretty healthy self esteem and have often looked at these people like I wished I had a quarter of the ego they did.

The difference is mine is genuine. I see my faults along with my benefits. Checks and balances. These people don't have that built in good sense. Negative attention is still attention; if they scream loud enough that they are the $hit than someone somewhere may believe it.

I think it is an expectation level versus a reality level. I watched this old Dateline episode on MSNBC today where this man who clearly was not a top shelf candidate fell in love and was duped basically by a scammer over the internet. The pictures that were sent were of an adult star and not even of the person he was being scammed by. I was like Hello man , Do you really think this super hot chick wants to live in your mom's house with you in the basement and your 50 and she young hot and 25? He was devastated and It just really made me wonder. I know there is someone for everyone but he really needed a reality check.

This is your way of telling me that I've gained weight....isn't it?

Unless of course the girl is gold diggin but I'd be willing to bet those dudes don't pick up women in the grocery store.
