Why in the hell were they in the room without an escort? A LEO should have been in there with them.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gangbanger, and a single gay guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

The problem with granting a CCW to; for argument's sake; a woman who was recently attacked; and/or her obtaining a gun with or without a CCW is this; she is a greater risk to the public; a "hair-trigger" if you will.
Does anyone in the public at large want anyone, man or woman to be in posession of a firearm with fresh psychological wounds?

What is worse, the risk she may over react while exercising her constitutional rights or that her fears are realized, can't get a gun and ALL her constitutional rights are ended?

mAlice made the point we're likely to next hear of her death and that happens enough that most people read her post and thought 'yup'.

Add to that that some stupid coward who beats his women just might find a little more self control if he KNOWS she can stop on the way home and get her a gun. Instead of knowing...she can't.
