I did P90X Kenpo X last night. I liked it because they stretched before starting the routine (some other DVD's don't) and it had a good amount of kicking combinations . I did modify the blocks set because I'm used to Shotokan but other than that it was solid.

I've watched a few of the DVD's. The things I thought I'd have a problem with were, 1. they didn't warm up and B. Some of the routines had some intricate moves and the damn techno music was too loud to here them sometimes. Now, it was good technique. Full extension, punch placement and rotation etc, plus around 1/2 hr workouts for the ones I was interested in. I also love hot aussie chicks abusing me. I'm sure I'll try it once I get bored of what I'm doing now.

I did the Bas Rutten boxing work out yesterday. I hurt my hip again stretching and figured I’d take a few weeks off kicking. It was actually really, really good. Bas calls out numbers and you execute them for whatever round length you decide. I use a slip bag for my first two rounds anyway so this worked well. He’ll say “4” (jab, right cross, left hook, uppercut) then “3” (jab, right cross, left hook) “1”, (Jab) “1”, (jab) and so on. He progressively gets more complex by saying “4, 3” &”3 with 2 left hooks” etc. Of course this is fast and incorporating the slip bag worked pretty well. I did the next 3 rounds on the heavy bag, he’d yell out “liver shot” & 5 straight rights to the body occasionally which kept things interesting. I always finish with 2 rounds on the speed bag. I’m doing it again Thursday and now that I’m familiar with it a little it should run smoother. If anyone gets a chance too, give this one a shot.
