I got frustrated myself, my neice recently graduated college and started a new job with the Department of Homeland Security and of course she is working on the border (Mexico). That entire area really isn't safe for anyone that wears one of those uniforms. So she decided she was going to adopt a dog.

After all, her aunt is the founder of a rescue right? Ha.... EVERYONE turned her down, didn't even check her references due to her age and the fact that she rents...

Of my entire family, she's actually the ONLY one I would adopt to...

So we do see the other side of the frustration at times ourself.

As a lot of you know I tried and tried for a long time to adopt another boxer with a lot of dissapointment. I got no response saying yes or no. I didn't even get a visit as they say to see how my surroundings are that you put on the application. Noone ever called or showed up! Make a long story short, I did find out after getting Radar from Calvert County (who are wonderful peeps) that you need to go there and fill out the form requesting the type of pet your looking for. My son adopted Auggie (kitten) I filled out the form saying if they come across a boxer to contact me. They did a month later. I am now the proud owner of another pain in my arse!

j/k I loves my pups..

I can relate to that. I put in an application and was interested in two dogs from the same rescue and never got a response one way or another. After three weeks of waiting and calling my vet to see if anyone had inquired of my history, we went to a shelter and are now the proud owner of Britney our almost senior min pinscher or should I say she is the proud owner of us since she has completely taken over our house (but hates cats, and we have four) She is wonderful, and we wouldnt trade her for the world.

Sweet! Wish we could get all the formies to adopt. I've been really involved lately cause of my girl KK. I've been to two of her adoption gatherings at Peppers and brought my two terrorists, just for support and show the love. Ok, that's a different story.. ..

Anyway it's so cool to go and see the love of the supporters. I wish everyone could do the same.

and thats the part where i say YOU are adopting the dog when you take it in.

I understadn that you are trying to do a good thing, and actually if you are a registered with uncle sam as a "not for profit" business, i have no problem with you setting a small adoption fee as you see fit.

the problem i have is with folks who love animals, adopt a bunch in and then basically sell them. keep em as pets and advertise them as give aways, taking in a nice 'adoption' fee.

but like i said, if you offically have a not for profit going, good work and good for you.
