My neighbor's dog....

I know the correct answer to this is "it's none of your business, you can't change other people..." That said...................my neighbors have this adorable dog, sweet and friendly and seems very well behaved. They keep her (I think) outside ALL the time, sitting at the door, crying. The people right next door say it is the saddest thing to watch.

Why would you bother to have a pet and treat it that way. Wife DOES NOT appear to work, so I can't understand not letting her in for some attention during the day. I just watched her try to drag her back inside the fence and the dog rolled over on the ground, as if to say "would YOU want to go back there?"

So, I'm thinking of approaching them and asking if they would like some help finding a good home for her. Someone PLEASE stop me! I know she's fed and probably has some shelter, which is more than many have, but it really gets to me for some reason.

Why don't you just strike up a conversation with her and say "such a cute dog, if you are ever looking to get rid of it please let me know".

Thank you for the suggestion...and PLEASE keep them coming. She's not friendly like that, can't just walk up and start chatting, several neighbors have tried.

I would say strike a conversation with her if she is outside when you are. She may not be easily approachable, but I would try to atleast talk to her. Tell her you may have someone intersted in the dog(eventhough you don't).
See what she says, if she gets nasty, I would just walk away and let it be.

Well, you could always hang out at the fence where the dog is until you get her attention, then go on with the "oh what a lubby wubby, sweet doggie, I'd give anything to have a dog like this".

some people are just against animals being indoors at all - which is fine as long as the person goes outside often enough to give the dog love and attention. the dog is probably only whining at the door for attention net because it just wants to be inside.

my dog will happily spend the entire day outside as long as i'm out there with him

My dog loves the yard as well, but when it was 100 degrees and the humidity was even worse......I know I'm out of bounds here, but it breaks my heart.

Tunnel over in the middle of the night and steal the dog. Then, take said dog to Paso, who will dye it pink (or blue, or purple-your choice). Neighbor won't even recognize the punk-rock doggie. Problem solved.
