It is sad how many do end up at a shelter. I guess people don't understand that boxer have a lot of energy and need to play. My boxer boy was a hellion as a puppy but now he is a total cuddlebug. I wish I could save them all but I am dealing with my own new hellion right now. Seriuosly he is a naughty monkey.

OMG. I'm new to this thread and new to the whole fostering thing. We have 2 inside cats and a lab mix who is just a year old. She is crated during the day b/c she has seperation anxiety and tears up the house when left by herself. Can you give me more info on this and the puppy. I don't understand why they would put down a pup? We got our dog at the animal shelter and they said the pups are adopted fast. I guess fostering is to see how the dog is before adopted??? What if the foster wants to adopt later?

Jenel I can tell you this I fostered 2 kittens and fell in love with them...ONe got adopted and the other one I adopted. Just because your a foster parent to an animal doesn't mean you can't adopt the one that is in your care or any other one that the agency you foster with has in there care. Some places like smawl or paws might even give you a little cut on the cost if you adopt the animal that is in your care from them (paws did it for me with 2 cats I adopted from them).

Some shelters euthanize every week almost every animal in there to make room for the next batch. Normally when someone fosters, you take an animal into your home and raise it in a family environment, meanwhile the rescue group is trying to find it a permanent home. It's not unusual for a foster parent to fall in love with their foster dog/cat and want to adopt it (I call it failing Foster 101 ). Shoot I adopted one of my fosters before I ever started doing this.

I'm new and not sure how to PM. Can you tell me which group you are with and where to get more info on becoming a foster. Is it too late for Toby? Would I have to go to SC to pick him up?
