In House Dog/Cat Sitter

We have always been lucky enough to have family or close friends stay at our house with our 2 dogs and cat while we go on vacation. Now everyone is all grown and not able to accommodate us! Does anyone have a recommendation for someone or a couple who you have worked with before and trust not only to take great care of the animals but also trust staying at your house while you are gone? The cost of a kennel is out of our reach as well. We pay a modest sum and are looking for someone who would be there every day (minus work of course) and spend the night and LOVE animals. TIA!

I've been using Pawfessional Pet Care - Pawfessional Pet Care for over 20 years. It's a husband/wife pair and we fully trust them with our pets and house. We use them for daily visits and overnight stays when we travel.

Thank you so much - I'll check them out!

I would think kenneling them would be less expensive that having a Pet sitter come into your home.

It's also much more traumatizing than allowing the pet to be comfortable in the home they're used to.

I really had no idea of the expense of a kennel until today. Our 8 day vacation would cost us $540 in kennel fees and that isn't counting our cat. I have checked out several and that appears to be the going rate.

I understand that completely, but the OP was concerned about cost and I would just think having someone "live in" would be even costlier. I don't know, never checked into having someone stay at the house.

If you don't mind me asking, how much do they charge for a overnight stay? They don't have prices listed on the website.

most of them charge 75 for overnight which is between 5pm and 5am and if you need any extra visits during the day some are between 20 and 25 for each additional visit. I think 75 is a little steep. I know some that charge that because they say they can because they are licensed and bonded and they have multiple working for them. If you are lucky you will get the same person to watch your dog for 8 days.

You can also try calling your vets office to see if any of the techs do in home visits or call other vet offices in your area and see if they have any techs that will do overnights.
