Sorry about your pup, that sounds traumatizing for the both of you! I do have over the counter dog aspirin and the docs have always told me to give her some benadryl if the itching gets bad. I'm thinking she landed on something like a rock when she was playing and it became sore. There was another dog at the vet when I went with the same thing, but the owner said it was a sprain and his dog was given some meds. This man like many of you on here said it was likely do to the snow and the dogs playing in it.

Didn't know a dog would limp from Lymes disease.

This separation anxiety sounds like it has to do with human and not animal. Another pet won't work in that case

Glad to hear it wasn't more serious

I think it is related to humans. Four months into dating my ex, I was at his place and since we both can't leave to the store because of the dog, he decided to go. I was still in the apartment, but once he left she started pacing from the door to the window whining. After awhile she finally plopped down in front of the door waiting for him to get back. My parents say the same thing happens when I drop her off for them to babysit. They never keep her overnight, they will take her back to my house because that is where she is most comfortable. It's like she's not okay when someone from "her pack" is out of her sight.

Sounds very familiar

Our dog didn't display the symptoms until we had him for approximately 2 weeks. That was the point when he had bonded with us. Then all hell broke loose.

How is your puppy today?

She is much better, Thanks! She is running around like crazy. If I didn't know any better, I'd think she faked being hurt to keep me home another day :)

Great!

Funny you mention faking

Our dog used to sometimes fake a limp for me.

Oh I believe you... Holly will pretend her face itches so we will rub it for her. It started because her allergies were bad that I would tell her to come here when I saw her scratching so she wouldn't break the skin open. It's so obvious when she is faking for attention. They can be so cute sometimes :)

Our dog had bad allergies too. Do you feed her a prescription diet? We did, but he started to become allergic to each flavor over time. It was also so expensive. Then we were finally able to find a few pet store brands that worked for him. A lower protein food will help with anxiety
