| My mind dump I was leaving work the other day. Happy and relieved that I've finally ben able to resolve a problem that has been plaguing me at work for 3 weeks. The weight had finally been lifted off of my shoulders. I decided to take a different route home - the scenic route. Traffic was lite and I was finally feeling less tense. As I was approaching the La Plata area, across from the Catholic school the sole car that was in front of me suddenly hit its brakes. I was in the left lane, they were in the right. As I pulled up along side of the car I could see why they stopped. There was a lab mix standing in the road. I pulled up alittle further to block the dog from running into traffic coming the opposite way. As I did I could see that the dog was hunched over but standing up. One paw raises. It looked at me - bewildered - kind of like "what happened". It's eyes sad and afraid at the same time. As it tried to walk I saw it's raised paw and there was blood starting about midway up. No doubt a broken leg. The dog looked at it's leg then at me with a "help me" look on it's face. I threw the car in park and as I got out to help the dog the jacka$$ going the other way almost hit me. As I came around the car the dog hauled a$$ to a farm house. I didn't pull in to the farm house to see if it was thier dog or not. I just got back in my car and drove home hoping the dog would get the help it needs. If the dog would have stayed where it was I would have taken it to the vet (wife would have had a fit wit hthe extra vet bills). At this point I do not know if the dog was treated or if it's injuries were worse then I could see (didn't appear to be - the dog ran pretty fast with it's 3 uninjured legs). As I was driving home I was sad and pissed off. Sad from the shear look of panic on the poor dumb dogs face. Pissed off - one, because someones pet was running around a busy street like that , two - because I didn't follow the dog and make sure it was OK or was going to be treated and that someone let their pet run loose. This happened Tuesday and as of today I still keep seeing mental pictures of the dogs face as it looked at me. Why didn't I stop ? I did that once when I saw an injured dog on the road. I went to 3 different houses before I found the owners. They accused me of hitting the dog and wanted me to pay for it to get treated. Was not a pretty scene. That dog died - it's back was broken. I have dogs myself and it would kill me to see anything happen to them. I can only hope that the people that owned the dog took it to a vet. So - that's my mind dump. Now maye I can forget about it. After all it's Friday and I think I'm gonna have to make it a half day.

| Tough call. You prevented further immediate danger. You acted out of kindness where others did not and you did not have to. You made decisions you were comfortable with at the time and you cannot change that decision now. There is the possibility that the owners are readers/members and will see that you aided in keeping their family member alive and potentially directed back home. Thank you for caring. I hope that if my girls are ever in the same position, someone will take the time to protect them as best as they feel they can, as you did.

| You are awesome! First that you cared, second that you had bad experience saving the other dog and still considered helping it. I think the dog was headed home. It is not my dog but I am proud of you and I say thank you for caring

| You are obviously a good person and true lover of animals. You did the right thing. Its up to the owners to do the rest.
