Oxytocin is only to cause the milk to start (let down), it doesn't make the mother produce more milk.

We had a Rottie but he got cancer and had to be put down. It was awful! My husband is ready for another, it has been almost 11 years! We have a Chessie now and a terrier mix. Yes on the neutering. Without question. I have three kids, 10, 8 and 2.

Her hips, I will definitely check in to all that...
And I understand what you mean about disqualifications, Ive read that in a few books I have...
The tail from what Ive read, is supposed to be cropped 1 1/2-2"

I know your being ruthless, and I appreciate it, cuz as someone who is trying to get into breeding, I need to know ALL of this... so correct me if Im wrong, or PM me, or hell, call me, its my first time(breeding) so I know there is alot I dont know yet.... Any info will help though
You need to submit them to the OFA to know their status. I am using Penn Hip. I may not OFA anymore, with the advent of Penn Hip. It gives the actual hip laxity index, in addition to size and shape, and is an actual numeric measurement rather than 3 opinions like OFA is.

sure! but don't be in a hurry to buy a girl just so you can be your own little production house
Rotts can be a real liability. Like selling a loaded gun to the wrong person.
BTW my website hasn't been updated for a while, i get way too many requests for pups i can't meet the demand so i just kind of let it go. My ISP also crashed without backing up files, so several pix were also lost. I changed computers and the pix were on my old one. I will go in and update it...when i get a moment I have to add the horses anyways.

Oh and we aren't "open to the public" until babies have had their first shots. They can be seen at around 5-6 weeks, but not touched until the first shots @ 7 weeks. Rott immune systems suck and i'm a cootie FREAK. The herpes virus is rampant in this breed, and wreaks havoc with the newborn-5 week old babies.
I'll send pix tomorrow.

gf said NO MORE doggies in the house

And I totally know what you mean, the people we bought from did interviews and all of that.... which I would also require if I did breed... maybe I can come see yours, and check them all out, and then maybe one day meet up with you somewhere to see mine.... and you can take a look and just give me a personel opinion on what you think of him.... either way, he is still like my son, and he's such a daddy's boy

It actually is used to evoke contractions, so any additional junk is expelled from the uterus after whelping, or to re-start stalled labor. If given too early in the process, like if you are in a hurry to start labor, it can (and does) rupture the uterus. Then you have a mell of a hess. I only use it when i think the girlie is done and want to make sure all placentas are out. But i don't have any on hand.
