Can you tell me...

Where people get off charging $95.00 for mix breed puppies?!?!?!?! My husband said maybe they are "premium blend" puppies.

Supply and demand... if she gets buyers... she makes out... if no one bites... she drops the price. It also prevents calls from people who can't afford to invest in owning a dog.

They're not mixed breeds, they are 'hybrids' duh!!

You use the wrong term and it sounds like you are getting ripped off, you use the right term and it sounds like you are getting the deal of the decade.

Yeah, well I don't care how you slice it they are MUTTS. Nothing wrong with mutts, in fact some of my best dogs were mutts. I just can't believe some people out there trying to make a buck on what most people give away!! It's rediculous! NO way am I going to pay that kind of money for a mixed breed dog!

... and some people pay much more than that for a "purebred" and end up with a dog that has extensive and expensive medical conditions because of breed traits...

Mixed breed dogs need puppy shots and veterinarian check ups, too.

How much do you think you pay when you RESCUE a dog?

Not saying that this particular person is or isn't doing the right thing. Let's assume they are, and they've taken the litter to the vet, they've paid for puppy food, etc...and the litter was an accident ..assuming all the right things..they're not making much money by selling the pups for $95. And by putting a price tag on a puppy (which is what most rescues will advise you to do if you ask for their advice) will weed out people who maybe cannot afford the costs associated with a pet in the first place. The fee also discourages people taking a puppy for say, dog fight baiting, lab experiments, and various other undesirable activities.

Woody (Labradoodle) was priced @ 1200.00. I only paid $300.00 for him as he was not sold by 8 weeks. I consider myself very lucky to have him. I wouldn't take any less than a million for him now.

Want one?

Well, if these puppies don't get bought for $95 each, chances are you will be able to adopt them from a local rescue for $150 (once the advertising person realizes that no one wants to pay almost $100 for a mutt), which will Include:
Shots
Spay or Neuter

Possibly a good start on house and/or crate training.

Now if this person would take part of their $95 per puppy and spay the mother, then that's a good thing (but I won't bet the rent money on that).

Well if they are paying $95.00 for first shots then they need to find a less expensive vet.

And I have had both purebred and mixed breed dogs and have never had any problems with medical. In fact, I have two purebreds right now and a mixed breed and only paid for one of them. The other two I got free from owners that wanted them to have a better life. I have a standard poodle, a min pin, and an Akita, Shiba Inu mix. As beautiful as my mix is there is no way I would have paid money for him.
