I think the answer to that is a big resounding "YES"!

One can always speculate on what may or may not have been.

It's sort of like blamming the officials or the wind direction when your team looses.

Maybe you are "just stating facts", but is there not a possibility that your perception is a bit shortsighted? Do you not think that if you dug into the specifics of peoples' decisions last night you would find that they had simply become nauseous at so much of what the Dems have done or tried to do in the past 10 months? But maybe that's how you like it... "It's all a pattern; we saw it coming...", in which case, carry on your happy trails.

I'm sure there are some who voted based on what you described but I think most voted based on the poor and mostly negative campaign that Dedes ran. I could even see it his commercials. A lot of attacks on McDonnell. Very little about why one should vote FOR Dedes. McDonnell's commercials were more positive.
