But I think I in the audience was more concerned about the issue then was the BOE. Of course honestly it is not the BOE's fault as the Base growth is orchestrated by our oligarchy and the schools just have to make do.

Dude The Union Reps are saying the teachers need more money. With the new contract proposal, starting salary for a new teacher fresh out of school is $40,000. Over the next three years the teachers will be receiving
approximately 16% total with COLAs and step increases. I ask you if anyone else out there is getting roughly 5% per year raise? The teacher salaries are 5th in the state. St. Mary's county is the 12th largest county.

The union also thinks the school system is being shortchanged because thy are receiving a smaller percentage of the county budget than 10 years ago. Well duh if the budget grows as fast as it has, the percentages are going to decrease. The actual dollars have increased. If you really want to get more money for the schools, ditch the new $30 million jail and expand the old one.

The problem as I see it is that you are correct but the COLA (Cost of living allowance) is not based on reality, and that is because of the excessive growth in this area. With housing prices being 2 - 3 or some 4 times inflated in cost then 5% per year raise is not enough to cover the real COL (cost of living) in this area. Not just property but also gas prices on top and taxes go up with each appraisal. And the teachers have to work in overcrowded conditions and have to use those blasted relocatable fire box trailers (with an e).

So I really say that the raise and or the base pay is not the real issue for them or for the rest of us. The real issue is the out of control greed driven growth that hurts our entire community.

I am not certain but I feel fairly certain that the Sheriff office is intending to keep the old jail because the growth in crime is so high that they will need all the jail space they can get and that too is a direct result of the greed driven growth attacking our home.

I really wish you would not put "Faith without Works is Dead" on you posts...

Although I know what you mean to say... it's not appropriate to be using this before knowing that most of the people you are talking to have faith...

To many people are trying to "work" their way to heaven and leaving out the "faith" part that is so essential....

Well I have kind of been using it as a sort of campaign slogan on here and I will try to think up another one. This one was derived from an exchange I had with another poster on some where on this forum. So I will not stop until I figure out a replacement.

Some how I do not connect with the reasoning that works without faith is dead? If some one is working their way to Heaven then there has to be faith in it. To my understanding, works without faith is an impossibility.

That discussion is way to deep for us to get into in a political forum...

Have you thought of "Cusic... smarter than a Qtip"? It makes no sense but it gets in your brain.....

I look forward to seeing what your slogan becomes....

Couldn't the Q-tip company(Johnson &Johnson?) sue him for defamation?
