true, it's the channel in the middle that is real deep, I don't think the pilings are set in the deepest part, but in the shallower water on both sides. The channel is the narrowest there, so the pilings can be put into shallower waters, and the middle span crosses the deepest part of the river.

What is a "cement fiasco" as in #6?

Mothers with mis-behaving children should be at least 3 points against their license. They should not figure into this problem.

The Southern connector to Dowell Road will cut this whole problem in half.

Sorry It took so long to reply... I didn't see your posting...

When I posted the thread they hadn't begun to connect the bank with Gott Parkway [oops Lusby Parkway].

I'll bet someone will try to make a U-Turn in the intersection if they put up a cement barrier...

I'm not really looking for a stop light.... We already have one at both ends of that strip. We need to design traffic flow in that area and share the design with the users more... some paint structure would work.... people obey yellow and solid white lines ....

That transfer station stinks.... I would love to see it moved... I heard the County wants to move it across 2/4. I think I like your location better. It would work better than making people cross a major highway to drop off a bag of trash...

#6 Cement Fiasco... The state is just not sure how far out they are going to build the cement barriers for the entrance to Giant on Rousby Hall. It's been my experience that when a cement barrier is used in the proximity of a merge lane it has to be very well done or it's a real fiasco... there's also supposed to be some sort of cement barrier that will allow west bound traffic to turn left in front of traffic coming off of 2/4... State engineers are still saying they aren't "sure" what they are going to do.

I would like them to get the design right on paper before they start paving it in... right? The design is better than it was a few months ago... but it's not quite right yet...

Traffic flow is the key on the portion between 2/4 & HG Truman. This is where traffic can back up on 2/4... which will also impact traffic that is moving 55-70 MPH...

The Southern Connector will go to HG Truman and 2/4... not Dowell... and they're putting a major hotel at Dowell... that combined with the residential development down Dowell Road will be another congested area...

Seeing as you have all these ideas, have you put them to paper and given your proposal to the SHA for their consideration?

Seems to me - again, I'm not a resident of Calvert - that most, but not all, roadway decisions are quite reasonable. After all, the SHA have lots of engineers, designers, surveyors, and other professionals on staff who make it their business to put the best plans into being.

As a matter of fact I did. I also drew a design for the county road to connect Lusby Parkway to Town Square Drive... and they said they are going to incorporate some of my ideas.... It made the paper [which was really a nice surprise]

Not quite...they have a budget that they need to work in and the plans ALWAYS start off with the plan that will bring about the most profit. After that, its a fight between those that want better plans, and those that want to make money off of it.

And as the fiasco in front of the High School on 760 shows, we don't have time to investigate and plan to do it right once, but we have all the time in the world to do it twice.

Resonable argument. Thanks!

They did the original, then oops, that doesn't work so they redesigned it, then we got the traffic circle. That's three times.

Add in the redesign they'll probably do when the new road goes through there.

Mo-money. The State bought it all 3 times and the mexicans remain employed.

People say I should let the experts handle it.

This may be true... I just wish there was a way the experts could pay for their mistakes ... without dipping in my pocket...

I believe that the County Commissioners should have had the local residents informed and involved all the way through this process. There would be a better understanding of what they wanted to do.

It took me 8 years to get the timing of the light at Appeal Lane and HG Truman Road corrected....

One of the SHA people told me "you people down there in Lusby will just have to learn to get use to change".

I think change on paper is more affordable.
