Fire and rescue wont be cut, public safety wont be cut, roads might be cut a little.
the majority of the cuts are going to be done on things that the average hard working individual sees little benifit from in the first place, so who really cares?
Public transportation, tipping fee (trash tax, not your waiter), library fee, fee to use the Senior Center, disposal fee for Depends......When it comes to fee's and taxes, politicians have no shame.

When talking about the real estate taxes with one of the incumbents, I reminded him that the cost of everything is rising and the majority of homeowners are pinching every penny they make to make ends meet.

Real estate taxes attach themselves to the biggest payment people make. It attaches to the Mortgage. People work hard to earn a good credit score so that they can afford a home. What is the benefit of all this hard work when the government attaches an increase to this payment. When you add an additional $1200 escrow [i.e.] to the payments annually, that increases that payment substantially.

People will loose their homes if the payments are not met.

This same commissioner told me that there is a tax credit available.

Who do you know that is raising a family and paying a mortgage with an income of less than $50,000? Who do you know that can buy a house in Calvert County with an income of less than $50,000?

While I am thrilled that this credit exists for those who are on a fixed income, I am appalled that this incumbent would offer this as a solution for the average family trying to make ends meet.

You want to know why people don't work in the county? We can't earn enough in the county to pay the taxes. We have to leave the county to afford to live here.
