St. Mary's County Straight Talk

I view Jack Russell as a man of dedication, motivation, determination and truth.
He examplifies what I wish our politations would be. He is of the
people and for the people. Its about time we had someone like that to be president of the St. Mary's County Commissioners then maybe we can recoup some of our rural areas and living. Out of all the people running for president he has the leadership and team player attitude, So vote for Jack.

Roy Dyson has the same idiologies as Jack Russell and has many years
experience in the senate. He is on the right committees in Annapolis
for our county and that takes time. His opponent, if he was elected
probably would be able to name post offices for about 2 years and that
does not help our county. Senator Dyson has worked very hard to get
many thing done for the county and the Navy. He is a champion for the
service vets, many times he led the way for me on veterans issues. He
also work very hard for our seniors. Seniors and Veterans vote for Roy
Dyson. Without Hoyer and Senator Dyson we probably would not have the
Navy base at Pax River.

Problems we have and it seems to me nobody cares:

1. We have huge back up daily on Rt. 5 and Great Mills Rd. at 4:30PM,
that could be prevented if President McKay and the commissioners would
have some time ago built the Callaway By-Pass to Pegg Road, that means
that all base traffic would go down Peggs Rd., to Callaway, to Leonardtown
and north and not the travel on Great Mills Rd. (WHAT HAPPENED).

2. FDR road was supposed to be built by the shopping centers from Great
Mills to Rt. 4, none of them did. that would leviate a lot of traffic
from Rt. 235 for people who go shopping. (WHAT HAPPENED)

3. On Great Mills Road years ago the County Commissioners said they would
raise all the sewer lids level to the roads, as of now and in the past
each one is 2 to 3 inches deep, thus creating a huge safety problem.
ie" People swerving so they don't hit them....people hitting the holes
an having to get their cars realigned or new tires, at a cos to our
citizens. (WHAT HAPPENED)

4. Explain to me how builders can build a large home on a one acre or
less, (what happened to the 5 acre house?), our County is becoming an
asphalt jungle. We are losing our pristine rural atmosphere, so some of
our builders and some people are getting rich and don't give a damn
about our County. (WHAT HAPPENED)

5. Three years ago we had a drought in the County and our aqua phere were
at very low levels, God help us if we have another drought, with all
homes, stores, offices, restaurants and motels. They all use a huge
amount of water. (WHAT HAPPENED)

6. Low income homes for our low middle class people. I was told and I'm
sure some of you too that when the builders were building $400,000 homes
they were obligated to build low income housing. They did not, but what
the County did, people bought out the homes and then rented them to Section8 housing which the County picks up the lions share of the rent. (WHAT HAPPENED)

So it seems to me in closing that our great leader Tommy McKay has not
lead on the above problems in our County. So how will he lead in Annapolis.
Vote: Dyson Russell.

Next time we can discuss things that we could do to better our County but
first we must put politicians that will work with us.

I love Jackie. I would shudder to see Hewitt in office. He is another McKay.

What leads you to believe that once elected Dyson Russell would be any more effective than McKay?

So tell me what are Mr. Russel's qualifications? If he is going to govern half a million people in a bustling economy that is growing I want to know he has a clue what he is doing, not that he tells good jokes.

Where did he go to school? Has he held any office before? Is he a fiscal conservative? Does he understand municipal law? What are his thoughts on oppressive bureaucracies?

I love Jackie Russell but I think Merl Evans would be a fabulous Commissioner president.

If I lived down there, that's who I'd vote for.

Merl is the most qualified and capable candidate. I hope he gets through the primary so I can vote for him. For the sake of our County, I hope the Democrats vote for him.

Jackie Russell is a nice guy, but he would be better served doing what Merl has done over the last 4 years by studying our government, attending everything and being involved. He's a common sense guy but the Good 'ole Boy routine won't appeal to most voters.

Mike Hewitt is very capable. Mike isn't as approachable or friendly as McKay but would probably run a fiscally conservative and efficient government. Not sure what new ideas he has.

My biggest fear is that without McKay's leadership, the Mattingly and Raley will go back to spending and taxing and spending some more. Like him or not, McKay has been responsible with our money. And he has had some new idea that got everyone thinking.

Anyway, Merl is the man...

You need to help him with his web site then.
