SMC- School Board Race

I'm hearing there is sign destruction going on amongst the candidates for school board. Someone please tell me that there is more depth to those running than this kiddie trick? These folks supposedly want to direct the future of our kids - do they have to act like one?

Specifics? Who? where? source of info?

Not every street corner covered in signs is fair game. Some of it is private property and property owners have every right to remove signs they don't want there.

I don't know any details, that's why I'm asking! I heard my aunt say that one of the board candidates had to spend the weekend putting up new signs where ones he had put up previously had been torn up. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard or seen such things.

I don't know what is worse - roadside memorials or political signs.

Roadside memorials are worse.

There's actually a law in place stating political signs must be removed within so much time of the election.

Bill Mattingly is the man..

Vote for Bill Mattingly. He has the best interest of kids at heart and has the time to devote to the job.

He was also the ONLY active school board member and school baord candidate present at the County Fair's Queen of Tolerance pageant. Why the others were not there I do not know. But here you have kids from EVERY county high school, private and public, being judged on academics and questions and answers and no one else was there. Bill was the one that cared enough to come.

Vote for Bill Mattingly at least.

Why does Twigg have the teacher union groups supporting him and not Mattingly? Does that endorsement carry any weight?

I read the Teacher's union endorsement some weeks back, before the primaries. The thing that stood out to me was the statement, "at least Twigg can be expected to show up."

Apparently Mattingly's attendance at School Board meetings is less than stellar.

I'm kinda torn between the two right now. Seems like Mattingly knows what he's doing, but he does have that "good 'ol boy" thing going on. Twigg, on the other hand, seems very intelligent, but I don't think he's ever been to a school board meeting. It also bothers me that he could end up being nothing more than a jockey for the teachers' unions.
