Maryland Early Voting Shot Down; Ruling Upheld by Highest Court in the State

http://somd.com/news/headlines/articles/4299.shtml

Why wouldn't this headline read, "Maryland Democrats Try to Break Election Laws; Court Shuts Them Down"?

Quote:
In June, Maryland Senate President Mike Miller spoke in favor of early voting. “The important aspect of early voting is that working men and women can actually vote on Saturday,” Miller said. “They don't have to take off work on Tuesday to vote.”
I don't understand why anyone would have to take off work to vote. Aren't the polls open from 7am to 7pm or something? What seems to be the problem?

Steny says:
Quote:
“We should be doing everything in our power to facilitate voting in our state and nation. Instead, this makes exercising the franchise more difficult.
Why does doing what we've always done make it "more difficult" to vote? Has something changed that I'm not aware of?

I do not see the point of early voting, nor do I understand why, if Democrats want this so bad, they didn't go through the proper channels and do it correctly. It has always amazed me when a political party doesn't like the law, so they just decide to disregard it.

Number 1. this is Steny Hoyer speaking. Nobody expects him to make sense. All he has to do is continue the public dole in P.G. county and he'll keep getting elected.

Number 2. the Democrats are the party which claim that a surplus budget (which is based on wildazz dreams of continued internet bloom and neverending growth) existed when George Bush became president. In fact the economy had already started its nosedive at the time of the 2000 presidential election which would have wiped out any growth for Al Gore OR George Bush. But the Democrats had another gratuitous claim against Bush.

Number 3, the Democrats believe that a $4B increase in public spending is a 'cut' if they had been promising a $5B increase.

They are wired differently than the rest of us.

They don't really want it. They don't actually care about the issue. They care about being able to walk into PG or B'more and wave around another race card and talk about how the Republicans are disenfranchising the working man.

If you can't make it to the ballot box, you most likely know well in advance that this will be the case. Get an absentee ballot. How hard is that to figure out?

Maryland has a no fault absentee ballot now.
I'm just glad I don't have to work 10 extra election days this year.
