Well to be honest with you Seabreeze, I wasn't interested in politics until a few years back. I live in one of Mr. Dements districts and I went to a commissioner's meeting with my aunt a few years ago because she is into politics. I went to a few more after that and each time I noticed that Mr. Dement wasn't very active in the meetings as opposed to the other commissioners. This always disappointed me. When election time came around, I researched both candidates and thought that Ms. Mathis was the best choice. She definitely would have to be better than Dement. I've met them both a few times and also had a good feeling about her. I always read the posts on here but I have never posted anything because I didn't see anything that I wanted to respond to. I don't think that should exclude me from responding though.

I can't believe I'm reading this.... I personally saw Mr. Dement single-handedly drive all over the southern part of the county after Ernesto snuck in on us......... to adjust and make sure each of his 3,000,000 election signs in the county were righted before people pulled their trash, trees and lines out of their yards, let the waters recede from their homes and were able to get back out onto our county roads. We need more people representing our county who can PRIORITIZE!

I have to give you a laugh on that one. Thats true and very sad. Mrs. Mathis isn't even in office and she was riding around looking at the damage and calling in potentially dangerous areas. That really gained my respect for her.
