They've let the opposition paint them as loony evangelists, then solidify it by getting involved in that Terri Schiavo mess. "Compassionate Conservativism" is a joke - might as well just say we're a bunch of Socialists with Rs after our name.

Who has the right agenda on border control and illegal immigration? On combating terrorism? On foreign aid? Which party thinks the government has no business telling you who you can and can't marry?

If I could find a party that was in line with my own beliefs, I'd vote for them.
Vrai,
Check out Texas Republican Ron Paul. I think he represents everything you are looking for. I hope he decides to run because he would have my vote without a doubt!!!!

He also supports (or supported, during his 04 run)
- mandatory national database of gun "fingerprints"
-closing the gun show "loophole"
-allowing more lawsuits against gun manufactures

Ron Paul would be intresting to me, but he is so anti-war.

But yesterday and in 2008 the only thing the third party does is be spoiler.. I think Mr Big Ears is the reason Clinton won the first time around..

Sparx!!! I agree with you. On the female for VP or Obama running, I think they need to go for VP and try to tackle that position before running for out and out President. Its kind of like race (color) too with Obama - its just too soon... why put a female or person of color in the WhiteHouse without having them try it out as Vice President first. I think it concerns many. In my opinion, I think the next step would be VP for women or people of color. I think you have to slowly, gradually get to the Presidential position so it'd be less of a shock and more widely accepted. Again, I'm not trying to be mean, but take Obama for instance, folks just arn't ready for a person of color to be President, and even if he does run for President and wins, it'll be "First Black President" and not trying to come across as racist or anything but from what I've seen from most my friends of color... they'll say after about 2 weeks..."oh well, he's not really black.... he's a turncoat" I've seen them do this with Colin Powell, Tiger Woods and Conde Rice... they were happy at first and then quickly minimized it all as if it wasn't really a big deal because they "arn't really black" I'm like WTF????? I think it'll be the same for Obama so why bother trying to pull for the minority. I think now that they've been secretary of state (two people of color in a row now)... next rationale step would be VP... NOT president... same for Hillary or any female.... I think for public acceptance and tolerananc purposes, you need to take things one step at a time, black or white female and that next step would be VP. Just my rambling opinion.
