Maryland Leaders Support Earlier Primaries

From WTOP Website...

http://www.wtop.com/?nid=598&sid=1083112

What are your thoughts? I think a Feb 12th primary would make MD a little more relevant.

Oh Oh Oh Me 1st me me me ......... this all seems about who can have a primary earliest.

Frankly I don't see MD as a battleground state for any federal elections ..... so i don't see this move making MD any more relevant than it was yesterday election wise ....

From WTOP Article ...... last line :

Quote:
Republican leaders said they had not been consulted about the proposal.
of course not ....

I don't see why we even bother to have elections in Maryland. Why not just save some time and money and make the Democrats "Maryland Kings for Life"?

Miller pretty much said so:
Quote:
"I'm for the proposal," said Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller (D-Calvert). Referring to three Democratic presidential candidates, he said: "If we don't move it, we're not going to see John Edwards here. We're not going to see Hillary Clinton. We're not going to see Barack Obama."
We're not going to see Rudy Giuliani or John McCain or any of the Republicans, either. But they wouldn't waste their time on Maryland anyway because they know the elitists run this state on behalf of the criminals.

I also don't understand how seeing some candidate make a speech would influence your vote. Why do they need to physically come here? We can see them wherever they are through the magic of television. Not only that but you find out more about a candidate by researching them on the web anyway.

So that Miller gets to glad hand them and get his mug on the TV and in the newspapers.

Looks like the primary is on Feb 12th now. I guess all local LBE's will be arguing with Board of Education people for a polling place.
