Talking Nursing Home Visit

Myself and a few friends got together and we took a donkey,2 mini's,1 pot belly pig,2rabbits,2chickens,1pgmy goat,1 dog, a parakeet and Macaw parrot and a chinchilla over to ST. Mary's nursing home for the residents to see and touch. All the animals were great, the residents really enjoyed it also. I think that we're going to start doing this on a regular basis. It was a good feeling seeing all the residents smiling and even the not so coherent ones.

Animal therapy is great for young children and elderly.

That is awesome! I have always wanted to do something like that, but my dog is....ummmm, a little too overbearing and hyperactive for that kind of thing.

Just go to one and ask the activities director. Most of them are begging for people to come in once a week or month to provide the residents with some kind of entertainment. It was a great feeling to see the residents smile and laugh and pet the animals. It also gave us great satisfaction knowing we made them happy and that we could do something with our animals.
